UPDATED ON SEPTEMBER, 14TH 2018: All links now lead to the Journaltastisch Planner 2019, which is currently only available on gumroad 🙂
When I started my own bullet journal adventure back in March 2016 I spend all day designing new layouts and making the system my own. I was absolutely obsessed with it. And I still am. But today my approach has changed. Instead of procrastinating on the things I should be doing by setting up the layouts I love using – over and over again – each month. I bullet journal the smart way.
How to Bullet Journal the smart way?
When you have been bullet journaling for a while there will be certain pages you use every day, week or month. They just work for you. And so you draw them again and again. And while finding the bullet journal layouts 2018 that work for you is our goal. I prefer to spend my time on improving other areas of my planning routine instead of copying and redrawing the pages that I know do already work for me.
To save time I scanned empty versions of my favorite bullet journal layouts and turned them into templates instead. So the only thing I have to now is print them out and arrange them the way I want. This saves me tons of time and allows me to create new page designs instead.
How often do you create templates/print new pages?
Whenever I use a layout 3 months or more I add them to my templates and print them on demand. I used to print my templates once a month. But since the beginning of 2018, I pre-print my ‘standard’ setup for the whole year at once. So the only thing I have to reprint are things like daily log pages, empty dot grid pages and new additions I create throughout the year.
So many Bullet Journal Layouts 2018
Today, I am so excited to finally launch the Journaltastisch Planner 2018 (my organized bullet journal printables) on Etsy! So far it was only available on gumroad, but since I know many of you love and trust Etsy as much as I do I had to offer it there as well!
These printables are absolutely essential to keeping my own life organized and highly productive, and I hope theyâll be helpful for you as well! Letâs have a look, shall we?
Journaltastisch Planner 2018
Having a Bullet Journal Setup for the whole of 2018 ready and set up easily was my main goal with this planner. And the two editions available offer so much more than just the printables themselves. Both the Essentials and Creative Pack come with over 200 printables. They are available in the sizes A5 and US Half Letter. They offer detailed guides for printing and cutting no matter what kind of planner you use (binder, notebook, booklet). And all printables are accompanied by explanations and a list of ideas for how to use each one!
What would any planner be without a pretty cover, right? You can print your cover on white cardstock so that it is more durable, and add it right to the front of your planner. I also absolutely adore the ‘this planner belongs to page’, so I can always get it back in case I leave it somewhere. Already lost and got notebooks back that way per post, so don’t dismiss it ; )
Yearly, monthly, weekly & daily planning – all in one
Since I know you all have unique needs and that our planning routines change ever so slightly from time to time. I made sure to include yearly, monthly, weekly and daily planning layouts. I use them all on a regular basis and they are my number #1 go to’s. Without them I’m totally lost to be honest with you!
Year at a glance: In the previous years I only used the left side, but I soon realized that something was missing. Thanks to the new color code and main events next to it I can instantly see what happens when and don’t forget any important appointments or events when planning ahead.
Happy Birthday (only part of the creative pack): I never want to miss the special days of my loved ones, so they are all listed right here. And don’t worry if you have a big family or tons of co-workers you need to remember. I have suggestions and solutions for this included as well.
Monthly Log: My monthly log includes important appointments/events that will happen, as well as everything I did each day in keywords and short phrases. This allows me to get an overview of the month and plan the next one even better since I know how long certain tasks take me.
Tasks ‘n’ Goals: My number #1 list I refer to in regard to monthly tasks and goals. Everything on here is super duper important and should be accomplished each month. So I really make sure to think about what I add to this list and add only high priority items, which get me closer to my big goals of the year.
Habit Tracker: Getting rid of bad habits (like eating chips all the time) and implementing new healthy ones (like going for a 30min walk each day) are very valuable to me. So this spread is another must-have. By tracking each day what I did accomplish I keep myself motivated to stick to my routine and become a better version of myself.
Monthly Memories: A fun page, which documents every exciting and special about the current month. I use it to draw, doodle and hand-letter any achievements, goals reached and fun times had. By doing this I can quickly see where my time went and reminisce my favorite memories.
Weekly Planning:This two-page weekly layout comes pre-dated and allows me to see everything at a glance. Weekly to-do’s and goals, time-specific events/tasks, my daily morning and evening routine as well as a monthly overview are all part of this template and help me stay organized all week long.
Daily Planning: My daily planning templates come in two different layouts and have multiple purposes. They also come in a ‘week starts on Monday’ as well as ‘week starts on Sunday’ version. That way you can adjust your bullet journal setup as needed and are prepared for everything.
Empty Dot Grid Pages: Should you decide on a binder like I did this year, these come in super handy. I print a ton of them in advance and add them to the back of the current month. That way I have all the space I need to document all my thoughts, create new fun bullet journal layouts 2018 and customize my planner even more.
Get your home organized
Working from home is as much fun as it is a burden. I love that I can do my laundry while working and get the small to-dos of the day-to-day necessities done on the side. But working from home also means never leaving work and going home. So it’s hard to draw a line and separate these two. That being said I have phases, where I focus all my energy on personal stuff and (even more and longer phases) where I get totally lost in work. Since I love my job & creating all this content for you â¡ This often results in not taking as much care of my home as I would love to do, so these cleaning layouts come in super handy.
Cleaning Roster: Having my household tasks separated by ‘how often they need to be done’ helps me a lot. So by filling out this spread and sticking to the routine defined here my home stays clean and organized. Which always nice! And I enjoy working in decluttered, clean surroundings a lot and feel like they make me even more productive. Do only I feel that way? : )
Monthly Cleaning Plan: My monthly cleaning plan is part of my monthly setup and so I don’t need to turn to the cleaning roster all the time. It also avoids getting overwhelmed, since I only see what needs to be done today. Loving it!
Organize your bullet journal layouts 2018
Having a planner is one thing. Finding the information you need at the moment you need it is a whole other matter. So I, of course, also included a few easy templates to help you stay totally organized in your planner!
Index: An index is such a simple and effective tool. Nearly every book has one and we don’t even think about them anymore. But they are what will allow you to find the page you are looking for in seconds.
Calendex 2018: The Calendex is a calendar-index-hybrid. And my favorite way to find the information I’m looking for in my bullet journal. This amazing system was created by Eddy Hope. And I’m very excited that he is currently working on a new website fully dedicated to this system. Make sure to follow him on Instagram so you don’t miss the big launch.
Bullet Journal Key: Every kind of keys and symbols I use repeatedly throughout my planner are listed here. That way I can keep it all the same and make finding specific notes even easier.
Bullet Journal Collections
Bullet Journal Collection Templates (only part of the creative pack) are so much fun to create, pretty to look at and help you organize the fun things in life. In case you are as obsessed with tracking your favorites hobbies as much as I am! â¡
Books to read: I think visually this is my favorite layout in the whole planner. And I finally can document all the books I read each year. Since I know it’s a lot, but before I never was able to put a number on it. Let me get back to you on this at the end of 2018 : D
Audiobooks to hear: While I read mostly fiction books – I listen mostly to nonfiction audiobooks. Especially audiobooks that help me improve myself in my personal and business life. Now I finally have a way to track them all and refer back whenever needed.
Movies to watch: As a Netflix addict there aren’t many movies I watch. So I’m sure at the end of the year this will be dominated by Marvel Movies, haha.
TV Show Tracker: My personal heaven. As just mentioned, Netflix is my favorite past-time. Since it allows me to relax in the evenings and truly ‘leave work’. I’m sure I will print and fill many of these! And I probably should share them with no one, since my Netflix habits are quite out of control : D
Beautify your planner
The following bullet journal layouts 2018 are created exclusively for the ‘Creative Pack’ edition of the Journaltastisch Planner 2018 and therefore not part of the Essentials Pack. They are here to help you relax, get creative and enjoy life!
Hand-lettered Motivational Quotes: I love motivational and inspirational quotes. They simply lift my spirits up and make me excited for the day. So I had to add a few pages worth of these in here to make me smile, whenever I flip past them in my bullet journal.
Stunning Mandalas for each month fo the year: In 2017 I re-discovered Mandalas. They are a way to relax for me and to just draw without any pressure. Additionally, they can offer even more fun and relaxation by coloring them in. So I’m all for them and had to include one Mandala for each month of the year â¡
Establish routines: Routines and Habit Tracking go hand in hand and I can talk hours about both. They just allow me to make progress on my goals way faster and are very motivating for me. This layout is my visual representation of my morning and evening routine. And the page I refer back to whenever I get so busy, I don’t know what to do first.
Empty Dot Grid Pages with Banner Header: After two years of bullet journaling I know I love myself some decorations. So whenever I’m short on time but want something pretty to look at. I grab one of these pages instead of my blank ‘dot grid’ templates.
So thatâs my go-to bullet journal setup! I know it is a LOT of printables all at one time! But I have found that these truly work for me and allow me a lot of variation. In some months the monthly pages are all I need. In others, I track every hour I spend on my daily log pages. It all depends on my personal needs at any given time.

How do you hole punch the printed pages? I haven’t been able to find a home punch that can work for my KikkiK planner.
I bought myself an adjustable hole punch. That way it really fits your planner needs 🙂 I have this one right here (affiliate link). I can hole punch up to 5 pages at a time. And it does the job. I wouldn’t say it’s the best hole punch out there. Since the paper ‘rests’ sometimes stays in the holes and keep you from punching until you cleaned it out properly. But I don’t really mind.
