My Bullet Journal SetUp For June post got lots of love from you guys! Thank you so much! And quite a few of you were very disappointed when there wasn’t a new one for July. One of my goals in life is to spread positivity and put a smile on your face as often as I can. So, of course, I had to bring it back for August!
Let’s get started, shall we?

August Bullet Journal SetUp Plans
I really like to plan. So, of course, I also plan my planning! Ridicilious? Maybe, but as long as it brings me joy I’m all in! This little spread helps me to have an overview how many pages I need for my setup. So that when I want to note something down or use my Bullet Journal in some other way before my setup is complete. I can just leave the right amount of pages empty and start my new note section, project, etc. one page after that!
Hello August
I’m super proud of myself for setting my ‘Hello August’ spread up my second month in a row and this time, it was already done on August 1st. Amazeballs! I really enjoy having one spread each month which is purely drawing. Because it helps me to relax and just enjoy the process of putting the pencil down on paper! Yes, I always sketch it out before going over it with a pen. I even went so far and copied my drawing onto watercolor paper, which I pinned into my BuJo after I was done with painting! It’s not often that you can see color in my Bujo!

Would you love to add this monthly introduction page to your bullet journal as well? Don’t worry I have you covered!
Habit Tracker
While I liked my June Habit Tracker in some regards I found it very cluttered in others. So this month I went back to the roots and removed a few things. No categories, no weekly dividers, and no color anymore. Surprise, Suprise! Since I already have so much color, right? Haha. I kept the pattern, though. It makes me just super happy somehow! Also, I removed most of my daily social media tracking. Since I prepare my social media posts once a week in advance for the rest of it thanks to Tailwind and Buffer.
If you are looking for ways to automate your social media check out my detailed Tailwind and Boardbooster Review, which was part of my last Blog Traffic & Income Report!
Tasks’n’Goals
Without my monthly tasks and goals spread, I wouldn’t get much done! It helps me to focus and resist procrastination. Most of the times at least *cough* It also is the basis for my weekly and daily to-do lists and therefore essential. The icons at the beginning of each line tell me exactly what kind of task it is. And I also like to break my tasks down into subtasks, because it allows me to see if I already started on a task and how far I have got. Otherwise, it can be super discouraging! Just imagine not being able to check off any of the boxes, because you completed all tasks to 90%. Devastating!!! So since I prefer to set myself up for success I break down each big task or goal into teeny tiny baby steps which are way more manageable and less scary!
Monthly Log
I had a very interesting conversation regarding Monthly Logs this week over on Instagram. One of my lovely followers was very irritated that I used the Monthly Log to write down what had happened each day. While she used it to plan her day in advance. I also have seen some people use both options at the same time. They use one pen to write down their appointments & holidays for the month. And then use a different pen color to track what they did each day!
But the truth is, there is no right or wrong way to do it! The fantastic thing about the Bullet Journal is that it doesn’t restrict you. On the contrary, thanks to the possibility to change the way you use it every moment you want to. It is very liberating and different from normal planners. Which makes it my personal fav!
Weekly Spread
One of my newest additions. Since I’m currently reading and implementing Brian Tracy’s ‘Eat That Frog’ I couldn’t resist adding weekly spreads to my Bullet Journal. Similar to the system I’m already using which includes a Master List, Monthly To-Do’s and Dailies he has one step in-between: Weekly To-Do Lists. So far I always thought I didn’t need them, but it really makes a difference! So after I created my Tasks and Goals Spread for the month, I break it down into weekly tasks and later on into dailies. This extra step helps me to estimate my time much better. Thank you Brian!
Also, I really enjoy having my time specific events separated from my todo list as well having my morning & evening routine in front of my eyes on a day to day basis.
Daily Log / Time Tracker
I switched up my daily log a tiny bit. Instead of only logging what has happened each day I now also use it as a time tracker. In detail, that means that I added a little timeline to the bottom of each day. On this timeline, I mark each bigger action or event that happened this specific day. Everything with black diagonal lines is work related and of the end of each day, I count together the time I spend working. This is the little number on the right of each timeline.
Everything marked is time spent efficiently. This means only the empty boxes are free time or time spent on tiny tasks. So a freelancers workday will most of the time not result in 8h workdays because you only count the hours you can bill. Coffee breaks are not billable! Sry! My personal goal are 4h workdays, but it might be a while until I can pull that off.
Oh, and in case you are not familiar with the cute critters! The little creatures next to each day, are part of my team in the Nintendo 3DS Game ‘Yokai Watch‘. It’s a super fun game! And little note to all the moms reading this: It is the perfect game for young children!!! It will teach your child a lot of necessary values (being kind & thankful, being there for family and friends, not crossing a street by red light, etc) without losing any of its fun. And it’s an amazing game for grown-ups too
Calendex Update
Once a month I update my calendex with future appointments as well as past activities.
- Turquoise stands for everything health related like doctor appointments and exercise.
- Orange are business meetings in person, which I have only a few off since I work with clients from all over the world.
- And pink are social activities, vacations and travels. Since I work from home I sometimes don’t meet people other than my boyfriend for quite a while and this visual representations makes sure I get out more often and enjoy myself. Traveling isn’t the same as going on vacation. So don’t get confused with so much pink. Since I only need my MacBook and graphic tablet for work I pretty much can work from anywhere as long as they have electricity and a good Wi-Fi connection!
One thing that’s changed is that I have a lot more turquoise squares starting in September. Which means Pole Fitness two times a week instead of one! Since I missed quite a few sessions in July, I went twice a week in August and I experienced how much easier things suddenly got. Your body really needs exercise more than once a week! At least mine that is! And I’m enjoying it immensely!
Blog Stats Tracker
The only way to grow your business is to figure out what works and doesn’t work for you. To do that you need to know your growth. Otherwise, you have no comparison if the new strategy you implemented really made a difference. So the daily time tracking I talked about in my Daily Log section tells me exactly how much time I spend on each task. And my Blog Stats Tracker shows me the results in the course of each month. So dependent on how much time you want to give a strategy to take off you have to track your stats in different time frames. But I personally wouldn’t go below two weeks, since variations in growth can occur out of many reasons (seasons, holidays, algorithm changes).
The Tracker starts in March since this was the month I started my Instagram Account. But my website wasn’t launched until June 7th. You only can see page views before that date, because I had a nifty coming soon page set up, where Bullet Journal Lovers already could sign up to my newsletter and get a new free printable every two weeks directly in their inbox. The orange numbers are the growth that happened each month and the black ones are the total number of pageviews/subs/followers.

Great post Sandra, as always! 🙂
Thank you so much, Tale! 🙂 Yeah, trackers are tough. Sometimes I fill them out not only for today but the past 2-3 days since I to struggle with it from time to time. But they are super helpful and so I try my very best to keep up with them and use them as encouragement to keep going!
